Brian Alabaster, sculptor. ARBS

Original fine art life size sculptures cast as limited editions, in foundry bronze and also in lead.
Public and private commissions undertaken

Brian Alabaster is a member of the Royal Society of British Sculptors and an established artist with an international reputation. His talent is capturing the relaxed natural poses of his models in his work. These sit perfectly in any garden situation. All work is cast in signed editions. Commissions can be undertaken for clients, either busts or whole figures.

Some figures incorporate running water, which adds life and vitality to the sculptures. Recent work includes dynamic moving images of children at play. These are expressed appropriately by casting into the enduring traditional material, bronze. This can be finished with a chemical patination in green or brown.

Brian models in clay from life. This clay is reproduced by the ancient lost wax casting technique in his own foundry in a limited edition of either bronze or lead sculptures. This work is carried out by Brian and his highly skilled assistants. He relishes this total involvement with all aspects of the process relating to his work. These foundry bronzes should not be confused with cold cast or resin bronze, which give the appearance of real bronze by the use of bronze powder mixed with resin. The enduring beauty of real bronze or lead will stand the test of time.

Brian's work can be viewed in his water garden at the Chelsea Flower Show and by appointment at his Suffolk studio. Security for garden sculptures may be a concern. All the pieces can be fitted with hidden secure fixings to suit the site and sculpture.

Brian chooses to cast some of his work in hard lead. This traditional material is long lasting and when weathered to a soft gray bloom blends beautifully with foliage. These sculptures are equally at home in the garden or the conservatory.

Brian Alabaster exhibited his new work at the gallery in Cork St. London in 2006
